Puppy Purchase Ageements

As a dedicated breeder, my responsibility is to protect our puppies. Therefore, I have developed our contract to protect the purchaser, breeder and most of all, the puppy.  Under the terms of this contract, the undersigned parties agree to the following conditions with regard to the puppy described below.

Breeder Agreements:

  • Registration papers will either be given with the puppy or transferred to the buyer immediately upon receipt from the AKC if they are still being processed.
  • The breeder will not release the puppy until 9 weeks of age and the puppy is given two sets of shots.
  • The breeder will provide a puppy health log of the purchased puppy, including any medications or shots provided while the puppy is still in care of the breeder.
  • The breeder does not assume any liability for any injury or veterinarian expenses to the purchased puppy once picked up by the buyer.
  • Both the Sire and Dam are purebred and AKC registered.
  • The breeder has exercised every practice known by ethical breeders at this time to produce sound, healthy puppies. The puppy is in good health at the time of purchase. The puppy has been loved daily and properly cared for to date and litter has been checked by a veterinarian.
  • That as of the signature date of this contract, both Sire and Dam have NOT been affected by cancer, epilepsy or allergic conditions to normal environmental stimuli.

Buyer Agreements:

  • Buyer must have puppy examined by a licensed Veterinarian within 72 hours of pick up. Breeder must be informed immediately of any issues. A copy of a provided health form, completed by veterinarian, must be returned to breeder to be added to file. No Shots will be needed at this visit. Over vaccinating a puppy can make the puppy extremely sick.
  • Failure to do so will result in cancellation of this agreement.
  • The buyer shall shoulder the third set of shots that are due at 12 weeks, and at 16 weeks the puppy will need its rabies shot along with the fourth set of shots, or as advised by your licensed veterinarian. After that, yearly vaccinations are required.
  • The buyer must give the puppy a proper diet and appropriate exercise. Do not leave the puppy in a kennel for a long period of time. Puppies need to interact with their humans. Do not jog or bike with the puppy until the puppy is a year old overworking puppies joints can cause injury.
  • The buyer must provide at least 2 pictures of the puppy before a year of age. Pictures may be added to my CKS Goldens group, emailed, or texted.
  • If the breeder finds that the buyer has been negligent in any of these responsibilities, the breeder will repossess the puppy at no expense to the breeder.
  • If, at any time, buyer is unable or unwilling to care for this dog, buyer agrees to contact and return said puppy to the breeder. NO REFUND OR REPLACEMENT OF PUPPY WILL BE GIVEN, unless otherwise stated.

Health Guarantee:

  • Our goal is to produce healthy quality puppies for people to enjoy for a long time in their lives. I do not believe that the puppy you have had in your home is replaceable, but I do feel that sometimes the loss of a four legged family friend can be lessened with the addition of a new one. In the unfortunate event that your puppy would need to be put down within the first year of its life due to genetics, or if it is found to have congenital or hereditary disorders that adversely affect the health of your puppy I will replace your puppy with your pick of a puppy from any of my females/male combinations. The cause of death or condition will have to be certified and recorded by a licensed veterinarian. In the event that the puppy has not died and there is an issue you may be asked to submit x-rays or have the condition verified with a second opinion.
  • In the event that the condition or death is due to genetics and occurs after the puppy turns 2-year-old I will give you credit for 50% of your purchase price towards the purchase costs of a new puppy from any of my female/ male combinations. The cause of death or condition will have to be certified by a licensed veterinarian and you may be asked to have a second opinion or to submit x-rays taken to diagnose the condition.
  • I cannot guarantee that your puppy will never become ill or need more than routine veterinary care, and this guarantee does not cover the reimbursement of any veterinary bills associated with this puppy.

To help ensure this I will have a veterinarian examine your puppy not more than one week prior to the date you take possession of your puppy, and I ask that you have your veterinarian do an examination of your puppy not more than 5 days after receiving your puppy. After your veterinarian has examined your puppy please submit a copy of your puppy’s medical record to me or you can email it to me.

Your puppy will come with all age appropriate vaccinations and dewormings, but it may still need more to be fully vaccinated. I will send a copy of all vaccines and deworming your puppy has received with your puppy along with when the next set of vaccinations and dewormings is recommended. After that you and your veterinarian should establish what vaccines and care your puppy should receive.

  • I cannot replace your puppy if routine medical care has not been maintained for your puppy. This includes all vaccines, deworming, heartworm prevention, and flea and tick prevention. You are required to have your puppy seen annually by your veterinarian and maintain all vaccines and preventative care as recommended by your veterinarian.
